MissionOur mission has been the same since we first opened our doors over 28 years ago: To provide consistently best-in-class branding services to the world's most forward-thinking organizations, while at the same time maintaining a commitment to our social responsibilities, our global partners, and our employees. HistoryJuly, 1980: The country is in the midst of a severe heat wave, and the New York asphalt is sweltering. TVs on the Upper East Side flash images of Governor Ronald Reagan accepting the Republican nomination for President, while radios in the East Village pump a brand new song by AC/DC called Back in Black. And in a small office in Midtown, starting with a single project and a ravenous desire to outperform their competitors, Glazer+Kalayjian is born. Since then, GK has helped countless clients in virtually every industry launch successful new brands and products all over the world. The GK network now includes brand consulting and design offices in New York and Westport, with partner offices across the globe. As the Official Branding Agency of the ComVort Group, the world's largest network of independent MarCom agencies, Glazer+Kalayjian has access to more than 3,000 top creative minds in 101 cities, 47 countries and 32 languages. While the company has grown substantially, both in size and experience, GK is still guided by that original hunger to be the best in the field, no matter what it takes. Vásken is known as a highly creative problem solver with entrepreneurial skills and a special talent for creating naming and design for consumer products and companies. He is also a multi-disciplinary artist and meditation teacher. In 1977, Vásken Kalayjian arrived in New York armed with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Pratt Institute and an impressive portfolio. From the beginning, he showed a knack for creating brands, developing the first bag for Pottery Barn, and designing brand-rejuvenation concepts for Bloomingdales. He worked for a global architectural design firm as the lead designer in signage and architectural branding for clients such as the Swiss Bank, Blue Cross Blue Shield and projects involving comprehensive signage and graphic guidelines for exteriors and interiors of buildings. He soon moved into broadcast branding, ultimately signing with NBC as Director of Network Promotions; he was instrumental in developing the modernized peacock logo we see today. Since leaving NBC to found Glazer+Kalayjian with Terry Glazer in 1980, Vásken has become one of the most prominent leaders in the branding world. He has received over 300 design and marketing awards, and lectures to a diverse range of audiences about brand strategy, naming and design. Terry Glazer: As a founder of Glazer+Kalayjian, Terry Glazer had a vision: To lead a top-tier branding firm that prides itself on building positive and inspiring relationships with its customers, its community, and its employees. To this day, that commitment has been the engine driving GK's success. Holding a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design, Terry started her career as an apprentice to the legendary Herb Lubalin, a pioneer of graphic design. She further honed her skills through positions as a design consultant to the Smithsonian Institution and as an Art Director at NBC, before leaving with Vasken Kalayjian to form Glazer+Kalayjian. Terry is a firm believer in sharing the company’s success with worthwhile organizations around the world, and has dedicated a significant amount of GK's time and resources to non-profit branding and design projects. Terry Glazer is the CEO of Glazer+Kalayjian.
